Do we really believe housing is a human right?

If we do, we have to be serious about finding a solution to the current structural deficit in our social housing.

As you may now have heard…Housing Festival are working with Bristol City Council and stakeholders, including input from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), on a new local government-led MMC housing Playbook¹, targeting the UK’s structural deficit in housing supply for those in critical need. This includes the 100,000 households, including 125,000 dependent children currently living in Temporary Accommodation in England. 

We're asking Local Authorities to help us in this work by asking a few questions:

• How is the housing crisis affecting your population?
• What are the greatest barriers to tackling the challenges you face?
• What if, just off-stage or waiting on the bench, there was an eco-system solution that could accelerate the supply of high-quality, low-carbon housing?
• What if collective-leadership was all that was needed to unlock new homes and new green jobs?
