Damp proofing
Building regulations
The installation or replacement of a damp-proof course in most instances does not require building regulations approval.
All new buildings, or extensions to existing buildings are required to have a damp-proof course installed. In external walls, they are installed at least 150mm above ground level.
If the structure is changed or the thermal performance is impacted, then additional approval may be required. If in doubt you should contact your local authority's building control department.
