We have developed excellent partnerships with local authorities to change the culture of planning and provide accessible, open and transparent online planning services to citizens and professionals.

Around 90 per cent of applications are now submitted online. With financial and resource constraints on both central and local government, we need to tackle further obstacles to realise a truly online planning service.

This section offers practical information and resources to support local authorities working with us.

Common causes of invalid planning applications

The Planning Portal is working hard to address this by embedding a feature into the online service for users to draw their site boundary and create a location plan as part of thier application.
