What information is published regarding government application fee changes?
From Planning Portal
We will maintain a blog post with all relevant details leading up to the change
- Details of 1 December 2025 changes in Wales1
- Details of 1 April 2025 changes in England2
- Details of 6 December 2023 changes in England3
We will also provide a ‘forthcoming’ fee schedule that gives a quick reference guide to the changes and links to source information:
Warning notices informing users of the change will be displayed on the application service, and email notifications from the payment service will also include advice about the forthcoming changes.
Local authorities and higher volume users will also be sent email communications.
From Government
It is generally expected that government will provide the following information:
- Details of the progress of the amending statutory instrument through its parliamentary approval process on the UK parliament website6 or Welsh parliament website7
- The amending statutory instrument in its draft and final versions on legislation.gov.uk8
- A chief planning officer letter, published online and sent to all local authorities detailing the changes once the date is confirmed.
- A schedule of fees (also known as the ‘fees document’ in Wales) confirming the changed values, amount of inflationary uplift, and the date the changes will come into force.
