How do I register for a Planning Portal account?

You can register with the Planning Portal to submit online planning applications to your Local Planning Authority.

To register and create an account:

• Visit www.planningportal.co.uk¹
• Choose Log in from the top right of the screen
• Choose Register for an account

Alternatively, you can access the application service directly at www.planningportal.co.uk/app².

To register for an account, you'll need to verify your email address. A verification code will be sent to your specified email address which must be the same one you will use for your account.

• Enter your email address
• Click send email verification
• You will receive a verification email with a number, enter the number into the box displayed on the registration screen where shown and click verify code
• Click continue

You will need to set a password for your account. The password must be:

• Minimum of 8 characters
• Maximum of 16 and containing at least 3 of the following:
• Lowercase characters
• Uppercase characters
• Numbers (0-9)

Complete the form on screen to include the information for your account, make sure you set a security question and accept our terms and conditions.

Once you have created an account you will be able to log in and make your application.

To make an application for building control approval, you will need a separate account.
