Nominate is a payment option offered on the Planning Portal that allows an someone to request that another person (or company) pays for an online planning application. You can use Nominate if you are making an application on behalf of someone else.

After completing an online application form using the Planning Portal, applicants will be presented with a choice of ways to make payment. To use the Nominate option, you should select ‘I want to nominate someone else to pay for this application'. 

To nominate someone to pay, you will need to know their email address, they will receive a payment request email to start the process.

You can enter the email address of the person you wish to nominate to pay the application fee and service charge. This will trigger an email to that person with a link to direct them to make the payment.  The nominee can make payment by all of our standard payment option, depending on the total amount of the application.

Under £1,000

  • Online (credit or debit card)
  • Phone
  • Bank transfer
  • Cheque

Over £1,000

  • Bank transfer
  • Cheque

The nominee will continue to receive reminders for seven days until they follow the link given in the email to accept and make payment. A confirmation receipt email will be sent once payment is successful.

The Nominate payment option replaces the Payment ReDirect Service.
